Good afternoon,
Hope you are enjoying the weather and everyone is well,
The Family Excellence Visits will be commencing this weekend with visits to League One and League Two clubs being orgainsed from this weekend (16 August - the date when clubs have their second home game) through to the end of October.
This season they will try to cover at least one Saturday 3pm fixture for all clubs but the other visit could be a 12.30pm kick-off or a Friday night match for example. The inclusion of a possible12.30 kick off or Friday night visit is due to the amount of the TV matches now being scheduled
I have attached the hand book concerning the Family Excellence scheme. Please can you ensure everyone receives a copy and is aware of the guidance for clubs contained within it. The book makes suggestions for best practice and how to improve the matchday experience. Is it possible these could be adopted in your area or from your own knowledge / expertise there may be ones not included that could be. We are already doing really well in so many areas, but to stand out even further we need to do that little bit extra sometimes. It requireseal team effort
Please encourage a warm intercation / greeting with everyone coming to the match and in particular any family groups within the Family Zones, Club Shop and within the South Stand area at all times. First impressions can really make an difference and these are the main areas I believe they will focus on
This applies to everyone at the club and not just those at the front end.
Everyone has done a great job of improving the match day expericence over the past few seasons. Hopefully, we can make that final step to achieving the Gold Award this season.
I have asked for guidance concerning the Hi Fives and received the following replies. This was raised last season and is an area of concern for us reference safeguading and welfare. Therefore I believe that speaking to those coming to the matches at every interaction point in a freindly, helpful and warm manner is best the way forward. I would welcome any feedback concerning this
From the EFL - In addition, on the high-fives point, Mark is correct in that it is only a suggestion that clubs could consider. Of course, if staff are adequately DBS checked then friendly interaction should be encouraged with the overarching premise that within the stadium environment being approachable and friendly is recommended, as opposed to always specifically high-fiving etc.
From Mark Bradley - Re hi fiving - that's something we see a lot on our travels as part of sports event / club / stadium engagement of fans. Of course, it's up to every club as to how they create a great match day experience. Our reports make recommendations based on the experience of the assessor but it's down to the club to determine what's right for them.
Any questions please contact me
Thank you
