This evening we welcome the supporters, officials and playing staff of Cheltenham to the Abbey Stadium. Thank you to everyone who has travelled to the Abbey Stadium for the match.
One of the most positive and encouraging initiatives to commence in the past twelve months has been the creation of the Cambridge Aces. All clubs look at improving the match day atmosphere and this group is definitely ticking all the boxes at the moment. It is important we build on the enthusiasm and energy of younger supporters and allow them the opportunity. Please give them your support and encouragement. Below is your chance to get to know learn more about them. Hello, we are the Cambridge Aces. We set up the group last year whilst talking to the club about how to add more colour and atmosphere to the Abbey during matches, including crowd surfer flags for big games, such as the ones we had last year against Luton and recently against Ipswich, having flag bearers to wave the three flags we have at the front of the Newmarket Road End, aiming to reintroduce the flags on staffs we had during the Conference Days and organising displays before big games, such as “that” fixture coming up in April. We are coming up to the business end of the season where the boys need our support as much as possible to help them achieve another season in League One. Where we belong! The atmosphere and ambiance during the Ipswich game was electric and we need to be like that every game to ensure the team can get their confidence back. We are looking at raising money over the next few months to help fund a display that will hopefully incorporate the Main Stand as well as the NRE to welcome the team out for the first Cambridgeshire League derby since December 2001, and as a group we will be releasing more information in the coming months. We are still actively looking for anyone who would be interested in volunteering or getting involved with what we are trying to do at the Abbey so if you are wanting to be a part of this, or would like to give your opinion or share some ideas for flags with us, then please contact us through Twitter or Instagram (@cambridgeaces for both) or come speak to one of us on a matchday! You’ll normally find us around the NRE Fanzone before a game so please come say hi. We are incredibly excited and honoured to be doing this and look forward to helping turn the Abbey into a fortress again. Forever, United in Endeavour. Thank you for reading. Connor, Tom & Shamz
