Statto Corner
Will Norris is the first United keeper ever to save two penalties in one match, outside of penalty shootouts. His success record of four this season is a club record in one season; Keith Branagan successfully defended the same number of spot-kicks during 1986-87, but two of those missed the target.

Rodney Slack is the all-time greatest penalty saver in United history with 11, followed by Andy Smith on six and John Vaughan on five.

Today’s double dismissal of Leon Legge and Brad Halliday is only the eighth time this has ever happened to United, and the first at home. The others were:
17/1/70 – Colin Meldrum and Peter Leggett in a 1-0 win at Lincoln
24/11/79 – Jimmy Calderwood and Derrick Christie in a 5-3 defeat at Burnley
1/4/84 – Mike Bennett and Andy Beattie in a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace
22/7/92 – Chris Leadbitter and Dion Dublin in a 1-0 defeat at IFK Eskilstuna (friendly)
15/12/97 – Paul Wanless and Martin Butler in a 2-1 defeat at Stevenage (FA Cup)
14/12/02 – Terry Fleming and Luke Guttridge in a 2-2 draw at Lincoln
16/1/08 – Paul Carden and Leo Fortune-West in a 2-0 defeat at Histon (FA Trophy)
United’s opposition have had two men sent off in a match a total of 13 times, and three men dismissed twice (Cardiff and Exeter). The U’s have never had three men sent off in one game.
United have won their third consecutive League game for the first time since November/December 2015, when they won 4-2 at Morecambe, defeated Notts County 3-1 at the Abbey, and won 2-1 at Plymouth.

Player Ratings
Norris 10. It’s not every day that you witness club history.
Halliday 8. Rock solid until that late handball.
Legge 9. An inspiration who just blotted his copybook in added time.
Roberts 8. Used all of his experience in a classy performance.
Taylor 8. Strong and uncompromising.
Mingoia 8. Decent display topped by a quite superb goal.
Berry 7. Played his part.
Clark 7. Reliable and committed.
Dunk 7. Had his moments, although not on top form.
Williamson 7. Got through a lot of really good build-up work, although he desperately needs a goal.
McGurk 8. Led the line with authority, spoiled only by missing a sitter.
Ikpeazu 9. Absolutely inspirational, running himself to exhaustion while seeming impossible to dispossess, and what an assist.

Dunne 7. Good to have his reassuring presence back in midfield.
Newton 6. Fleeting cameo.
Match Summary
United’s fans were lucky enough to witness a match which will go down in club history for a truly great goal followed by the most remarkable finish ever seen at the Abbey as two dismissals and two penalty saves sent pulses into overdrive. This is why we turn up week after week.
Man of the Match
Will Norris. Two penalty saves, four for the season. And we are only just into October.

Ref Watch
Yates 3. Oh dear. Awarded a number of soft free-kicks, ignored a number of others, and much of his decision making was about as understandable as a Bon Iver song title. And his application (or not) of the advantage rule was embarrassingly lamentable.
