Last week we had a new volunteer come to the ground and offer his help. Ian Darler was surprised when he realised that the offer was genuine and coming from someone with much so experience in the area of expertise he was offering to help with.
Apparently, Nelson had been taking a rest over the last few months of winter following his release from Sheffield Wednesday and is now looking for a new perch or position take up this summer Unfortunately, Nelson only has one eye. We are going to help him try and source a new one. If you have any eyedeas of where to go let us know. Ian told our correspondence " With all the pitch work coming up over the summer. He will be able to help by keeping the birds off the pitch and prevent them taking the seed from the ground as soon as it's laid" If Nelson is successful with his trial we will be looking to keep him to try and prevent the pigeons and other birds from roosting around the ground. If he really good he might help with the painting See below Nelson photographed with Alan Burge (Alan is wearing the coat) We are also keen that Nelson is not on his own so if you can help provide him with a friend please let us know.

How does the lottery work? Each member is issued with a four digit lottery number. Each week there are two draws held: The first is for a weekly prize – currently £300. Using a random number generator the winning four digit number is drawn. The member holding the four digit number in the same order wins the first prize. If there is no winner then runner-up prizes will be awarded to those members holding either the first two or last two digits in the correct position and order. The second draw is for the jackpot accumulator. The jackpot is again drawn using the random number generator and, as with the weekly draw, the member holding the four digit number in the same order wins the jackpot amount. If there is no winner the jackpot increases week by week by £50 until the maximum (currently £2500) is reached . How much is membership and what happens to the money? Each lottery membership costs £2.00 per week. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or bank standing order. Payments can be made monthly, quarterly, half yearly or annually. 95pence is paid into a Prize Fund. This fund can only be used for prizes – the greater the number of lottery memberships, the larger the prizes. 5pence is paid into a Cost Fund. Although the lottery is run by volunteers, there are costs for licences, printing, web charges etc. Any surplus after costs is fed back into the lottery to provide, for example, additional prize draws. 70pence is paid into a fund for fan amenities in the Abbey Stadium. 30pence is paid into a Community Fund used for community projects in the Cambridge area. With Play2Win everyone can support both the Club and the community and have some fun whilst doing it! Thanks for your interest and ...Good luck in the draw! The EFL and the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) have launched a joint campaign, calling on fans of EFL clubs to ‘Stand up for Choice’ on the issue of licensed standing areas at stadiums and seek changes to the current legislation which imposes restrictions on EFL clubs.
The ‘Stand up for Choice’ campaign has been designed to provoke a progressive and informed debate whilst seeking to highlight the significant support that exists amongst football fans who want the ability to have a choice between standing and being seated at EFL matches. Today’s announcement will see the launch of a dedicated fans’ survey, which will provide key data and insight on the views of supporters nationwide in addition to the existing petition which has already illustrated the strength of feeling on the wider issue. EFL Chief Executive Shaun Harvey, said: “We understand why the issue of standing at football matches is sensitive. The safety of all fans is of paramount importance to everyone, including Government, and they are rightly concerned about any change that could increase the safety risk and then see them accountable for this. “We recognise that to affect change we will need a partnership approach and this will commence with our survey to demonstrate that those who attend fixtures, want to see the change and be offered a choice, even if they still choose to be seated. Approximately 18 million supporters make their way through the turnstiles of EFL clubs over the course of a season, and with 800,000 people expected to attend matches across the EFL over the remaining two weekends of the season, ’Stand up for Choice’ will provide football fans with a collective voice before the survey closes on 10th May. The EFL has had a clear mandate from clubs to pursue change since 2014 and is keen to have an active dialogue with supporter groups, safety authorities and senior Government Ministers to achieve a review of existing legislation so that clubs have a choice on this matter and fans get the matchday experience they want - whether that be seated or standing on terraces. Harvey continued: “The EFL would like to see current legislation reviewed by the Government and ultimately amended so that clubs have the opportunity to provide standing accommodation to their supporters at all matches played in the Championship, League One and League Two, should they wish to. “There are 21 EFL clubs across our three divisions that currently offer licensed standing areas to supporters and it is unclear to us how such areas would be any less safe if operated on an identical basis at other clubs playing in the same competitions. “Nor is the logic clear to us why clubs can offer standing in League One and League Two but not to the same fans, in the same stands, at the same grounds after three years of playing in the Championship or above. If standing areas are licensed as being safe, they don’t become any less safe just because the standard of football being played on the pitch is different. “By surveying fans, we will be in a position to provide Government with a clear indication of the strength of feeling amongst those supporters who attend EFL matches every season. “I urge all supporters of EFL clubs to respond to the ‘Stand up for Choice’ campaign, to make your voice heard at this time and to demonstrate that having the choice of whether to stand or sit is what the majority of fans want. “The benefit of having a choice for fans is that those in seated areas are more likely to refrain from standing during matches, which in turn will make it easier for clubs to manage those who persistently stand without the conflict that can occur when they seek to achieve this now. “As stated earlier, this is not an issue whereby change is easy to achieve and we also call on the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) to clarify the guidance they have given to Government in recent weeks in order to ensure the Minister of Sport can lead an informed public debate.” Peter Daykin, standing co-ordinator at the Football Supporters' Federation, said: “The FSF campaign has always been about providing fans with the choice to sit or stand at football. “Those who prefer to stand should be able to do so and help generate the fantastic atmosphere that our game is famous for, while those who prefer to sit should be allowed to without having to worry about their views being blocked. There is no reason that this cannot be delivered safely by clubs. “Eighteen millions fans make their way to EFL games every season and the Championship is the third most attended league in Europe - theirs is a voice of experience which must be listened to within this debate. It's great to have such an important football institution engage so positively with the campaign, working hand-in-hand with fans to make the case for standing at football.” The data from the survey will be collated and presented to the relevant Government and safety authorities to provide clear evidence to deliver an informed debate on this issue. EFL and FSF call on supporters to 'Stand Up for Choice'The EFL and the Football Supporters’ Federation launch joint campaign against standing restriction The survey can be accessed online via: https://www.efl.com/standupforchoice. “Our clubs and their fans should be part of the solution.”

When Wrexham Supporters Trust took control of the club back in 2011, they took on a business that was losing over £1 million a year and had just sold it's main asset, the iconic Racecourse Ground. Next week at their AGM the 3,000+ owners will hear how the club have made another profit and continue to make progress off the pitch. We believe that their story is worth sharing and proof that despite the regulatory system rewarding clubs that lose money and take risks, you can still succeed with a model that is committed to long term success.
Board Member Spencer Harris shares an insight into what they have achieved and how they operate below: "The six years of ownership of the Wrexham Supporters Trust has required us to work extremely hard with a loyal and committed fanbase from when we took over in November 2011. Back then the under previous ownership the club had lost all of its assets including the stadium and training ground and was in a financially distressed state on the brink of collapse without a single policy in place to govern how the business is run. Today we have good business Read more click here Article posted on the 4th April
