FSA calls for 27th minute show of solidarity with Bury fans

FSA calls for 27th minute show of solidarity with Bury fans

Football supporters everywhere were shocked and saddened when on the 27th August Bury FC were expelled from the EFL.

A 134 year old institution gone. Generations of fans left without the cornerstone of their community that so many of us take for granted. We fans often revel in the tribalism of our game but the deep love we have for our own club serves to strengthen solidarity when a crisis emerges. In the past couple of days there has been an outpouring of compassion, empathy and sorrow from hundreds of thousands of fans across the country and throughout the leagues.

This weekend be grateful that your club has a game to play, that you can continue your matchday rituals with friends and family, like every other Saturday. Soak up the experience and appreciate it... and on the 27th minute, the FSA is calling for supporters everywhere to applaud for one minute in a nationwide display of solidarity for Bury.

Why a minute of applause on the 27th minute? Because on 27th August a football club was expelled from the league for the first time in 27 years. Let's show that we care and we are angry that this situation has been allowed to happen.

The FSA is lobbying hard to protect our clubs from unscrupulous or incompetent owners - conflicts of interest have to be removed as owners have shown they cannot regulate themselves and our clubs deserve special protections more in line with those afforded to listed buildings. Football clubs are not just another business.

We'll need your support for that campaign in the weeks and months ahead, but for this weekend, let's start by showing supporter solidarity with Bury fans on the 27th minute.

Online booking for this event will end on 16 Aug 2019 at 12:00.

Cashless Stadium
Please note that, as of summer 2019, the JobServe Community Stadium is a cashless venue.

Details of how it works can be found on the website: https://www.cu-fc.com/tickets/cashless-stadium/

Whilst there are cash opportunities at the Ticket Office and in the away concourses, there will be some areas of the stadium that CUFC fans visit that will be card only.

Travel

Supporters are reminded that the shuttle bus service from the train station came to a close in the summer of 2018.

Supporters are therefore recommended to catch a taxi from the train station, to catch the number 65 from the stops just outside of the stadium or to walk to the stadium (around 30 minutes walk).

Parking
Parking is available to book at the stadium car park for £6 per vehicle. This can be booked online at www.colutickets.com or by calling 01206 755161.

Allocated disabled parking is available at the same price but is in high demand, so advance booking on the above number is recommended.

However, all parking at the stadium is within short walking distance of the away end.

Alternatively, there is parking available at the nearby Colchester Park & Ride car park at £3 per car. If parking here, please leave the car park via the exit next to McDonald’s and walk back along Boxted Road to reach the stadium.

Refreshments

Food – such as sandwiches and snacks – and drink including alcohol is available at the Hot Shots café adjacent to main reception.

We now also have a Supporters Bar and Fanzone open next to main reception, which allows fans of both sides to mingle. We change the food on offer here ahead of each game, so please keep an eye on our website.

Both Hotshots and the Supporters Bar are cashless areas.

Match programme

Please note that the match programme is included in your ticket purchase, so please collect your copy when you go through the turnstiles on matchday.

The U's stadium is located on the north of the town, near to Colchester Business Park, and is now easily accessible from the town via the Northern Approach Road and Via Urbis Romanae.
To access the stadium, you can also make use of the A12 Junction 28. Parking at the stadium is just a click away, book HERE.

A12 - JUNCTION 28
The stadium is adjacent to the main A12 trunk road that serves East Anglia.
From the south (Ipswich bound carriageway)
To access the stadium from the south, turn off at Junction 28, turning right at the first roundabout. Go across the bridge and then go straight over the second roundabout, before turning right into United Way from the third roundabout. You are now at the stadium.

From the north (London bound carriageway)
To access the stadium from the north, turn off at Junction 28, turning left at the first roundabout. Turn right into United Way from the second roundabout. You are now at the stadium.
The postcode of the stadium is CO4 5UP, but you may find that your sat nav system does not acknowledge this postcode if it was bought before 2008.

It is recommended to use CO4 5JS, which is the nearby Rapid Electronics factory.

ALTERNATIVE ACCESS
Alternatively, you can come off the A12 at the next junction and take a left onto the A1232. When at the top of this road, bear right back over the A12 towards the traffic lights with the BMW Garage on your left.
Go straight over and up Ipswich Road. At the next set of traffic lights, turn right onto Severalls Lane (signposted just previously for Colchester Cattle Market). Follow this road to its conclusion, where you will pick up signs for the stadium.

Please note that if you are travelling to the stadium for a first team match, then travel restrictions apply around the stadium on a matchday.

JobServe Community Stadium: A Cashless Venue click here

I Am An Away Fan, How Will It Work For Me?

Flags return to the Habbin & how you can put your flag there.

The flags were put back up in the Habbin South this morning ready for the match against Newport County AFC

If supporters want to put up a flag within the area there should be no problem doing so.

Just ask a steward on your arrival to the ground. The earlier the better before the match.

Then after the match wait until the stands have emptied and take it down

If you have a flag or banner you no longer want or would like to leave up all season then  let me know via the form below. We can not take responsibility for any damage.
