Supporter representatives met with EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey and other senior league officials last month on Wednesday 14th November 2018.
The meeting took place as part of the EFL's commitment to fan engagement, which includes bi-annual group meetings. This meeting was attended by three fans from different clubs for each division, drawn from the FSF's network of democratically affiliated and associated fan groups, fanzines and activists. AHEAD of a busy Christmas schedule for United, the Ticket Office and Club Shop opening hours are shown below:
On line tickets can be purchased here ---- click here
Planning for the Christmas pitch design started several weeks ago and commenced when we used the big brush to sweep the pitch at the beginning of November to remove the previous pattern
Not only was it removing the pattern it was also making sure all the old grass and clippings were being removed. The grass was then cut in different directions. This helps with the growth See below some photos of the work being done showing Ian and Alan his assistant last week to completing the patten
We will put up new a matchday fact sheet for the Yeovil match on Saturday - as per recent matches around the ground

Kwesi Appiah had two spells at Cambridge United while on loan from Crystal Palace.
Watch three of the goals he scored below while at the Abbey Stadium. He also played 5 matches for Yeovil without scoring Kwesi is currently playing for AFC Wimbledon CAMBRIDGE UNITED FANS’ PARLIAMENT: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. Why does Cambridge United FC want to set up a Fans’ Parliament? In November 2018 Cambridge United FC announced a number of initiatives aimed at improving fan engagement. A Fans’ Parliament is one of these initiatives. See: https://www.cambridge-united.co.uk/news/2018/november/communication-update/ 2. Who suggested a Fans’ Parliament? CFU suggested the idea, and offered to help set it up. 3. So will this be a CFU Fans’ Parliament? Absolutely not. CFU is just helping to research the idea, along with other United fans. 4. What will the Fans’ Parliament do? It will allow a group of elected fans to meet regularly with directors and officials of the Club, to ask questions on behalf of fans, to discuss what’s on their mind and to influence decisions made by the Football Club. 5. Who will be able to stand for election to the Fans’ Parliament? Any Cambridge United fan will be eligible to stand for election to the Fans’ Parliament. Simple as that. 6. Who will research the feasibility of a Fans’ Parliament? A working group of United fans will test whether there is sufficient interest in a Fan’s Parliament and, if there is, how it might operate. CFU is involved in this group but it also includes other United fans. 7. When will we know for sure if a Fans’ Parliament is to be set up? The working group expects to make an announcement before Christmas 8. How many fans will make up the Fans’ Parliament? The working group will research this, and make recommendations. 9. What’s the difference between a Fans’ Parliament and a Fans Forum? There are similarities (eg; fans will drive the agendas of both). Fans’ Parliament meetings would be more frequent than Fans Forums, though, and will allow much more focussed and detailed discussions, with agreed actions. 10. What’s the difference between a Fans’ Parliament and the shareholders meeting? There are similarities (eg; directors will answer questions at both) but Fans’ Parliament meetings would be more frequent than the annual shareholders meeting, and will allow much more focussed and detailed discussions, with agreed actions. A Fans’ Parliament would not be restricted to shareholders, of course. 11. Does it have to be called a Fans’ Parliament? No! Tell us what you think it should be called. 12.Who would an elected fan represent at the Fans’ Parliament? If elected you would represent the views of other United fans, those that elected you. 13. How will elections for the Fans’ Parliament be organised? The working group will research this over the next few months, and make recommendations. 14. What specific groups of fans be represented on the Fans’ Parliament? It is hoped that a wide variety of groups will be represented – including different parts of the stadium, female fans, disabled fans, BAME fans, young fans, senior citizen fans, LGBT fans, season ticket holders, Supporters Club members. The working group will research what works at other club’s Fans’ Parliaments, and make recommendations. 15. When will the Fans’ Parliament start? It is hoped that, all being well, the first meeting will be held before the end of April 2019. Earlier if possible. 16. April 2019 is a long way away, how will the club improve its communications with fans in the meantime? In November 2018 Cambridge United FC announced a number of initiatives that will help improve fan engagement at the club. A Fans’ Parliament is one of these initiatives. See: https://www.cambridge-united.co.uk/news/2018/november/communication-update/ 17. What other clubs operate a Fans’ Parliament? Wolves, Bradford City, Doncaster Rovers and Shrewsbury Town, Sunderland and Dundee United all currently operate some kind of Fan’s Parliament. The working group will find out how these work. 18. Who from the club will attend Fans’ Parliament meetings? It is envisaged that both directors and senior club officials will attend each meeting. 19. How do we know the club will take a Fans’ Parliament seriously? The club has stated publicly that it is committed to the idea of a Fans’ Parliament. See: https://www.cambridge-united.co.uk/news/2018/november/communication-update/ 20. Will there be restrictions on what the Fans’ Parliament can discuss with the club? There are likely to be some restrictions, such as the provision of detailed financial information, and the club may ask that some information is not made public, but we expect these to be very much the exception rather than the rule. 21. Who will chair the Fans’ Parliament meetings? This is still to be determined and will form part of the research. 22. How frequently will the Fans’ Parliament meet? This will be determined by the research, but it is envisaged that the Fans’ Parliament will meet at least four times a year. 23. How will fans get to know the outcome of the Fans’ Parliament meetings? The club has said the meetings will be filmed and made available on the club’s digital channels. It is hoped that the minutes of each meeting will be posted online. 24. Who are Cambridge Fan United (CFU)? CFU is the Cambridge United Supporters’ Trust. For more info visit the CFU website: www.cambridgefansunited.org 25. What impact will the establishment of a Fans’ Parliament have on CFU? CFU will need to consider this in due course, once the Fans’ Parliament is set up and we know exactly what it does and doesn’t do. 26. How can I pass on my views? Please contact the working group via: cfuinbox@btinternet.com 27 I might be interested in standing for election to the Fans’ Parliament, if it goes ahead – who do I contact? Please contact the working group via: cfuinbox@btinternet.com
In our bid to continue to try to make the Abbey stadium a smart and bright environment we are preparing our work schedule for when the bad weather arrives and all volunteers need to work in the warm and dry.
The toilets around the stadium are going to receive a spruce up with some decorative football images being applied to the walls . Ian put in another scrounging phone call to Andrew Aspinall of A.R Aspinall & Son and after their discussion Andrew agreed to sponsor the paint for the decoration. We would like to thank Andrew for his sponsorship and continued support over the past years .

The EFL held a Checkatrade Trophy Fan Forum on Monday evening, giving supporters a platform to voicetheir views on the competition.
The event took place at Wembley, with supporters from Sky Bet League One and League Two Clubs in attendance, while those that could not make it in person were also given the opportunity to watch via Facebook Live. See link to watch the meeting here Supporters attending were able to pose questions to EFL Chief Executive Shaun Harvey concerning a range of subjects relating to the competition, in particular the continuing involvement of U21 teams, the development of young talent and the financial benefits for each participating Club. Harvey was joined by pundits Colin Murray and former Blackpool and Bristol Rovers Manager Ian Holloway. Sunderland Owner Stewart Donald, Chelsea Development Squad Manager Joe Edwards and FA Director of Pro Game Relations Andy Ambler were also guests of the evening. Harvey confirmed that the EFL’s partnership with Checkatrade will come to an end following the conclusion of the 2018/19 season. He confirmed an agreement in principle is in place with EFL Clubs that will see the competition continue in its current format for a further three seasons, subject to an acceptable level of funding being in place. The Premier League will contribute £2.25 million to the competition this season (most of which goes into the prize money pool) and this is set to increase. I know football fans across the country have strong views about this competition, and that Us fans are no different in this respect. I’m aware that many fans fear that the involvement of EPL U21 teams is a prelude to the introduction of B teams into the EFL (although I should add that the EFL has no plans for this) and are dismayed that some L1 and L2 clubs have their dreams of a trip to a Wembley final ended by a Premier League U21 team, but I also know that many young fans also welcome the chance to see potential future Premier league stars in action. I would like to take another opportunity to test your views concerning the competition. The following survey will run for the next 24 hours until 09.00 on the 14th December. I will share the results widely within the football club.

SLO part 4 Dealing with Supporters' queries and complaints
Every EFL club has a Customer Charter. Ours is on the official website and covers various topics including safety, ticketing, merchandise and fans' forums. We are looking at reviewing the Charter during the New Year. The first step will be to look at what other clubs include. We will keep you informed of progress. See the link for the current one https://www.cambridge-united.co.uk/club/customer-charter/ As you can see it is the SLO who is listed as the first point of contact for any complaints or queries. Part of my role is to liaise with key staff to ensure that any queries or complaints are suitably and speedily acknowledged and dealt with. The Charter also supplies a link to the Independent Football Ombudsman, so that if a supporter remains dissatisfied with the Club's response the matter can be resolved. I take this part of the SLO's role very seriously and continue to raise concerns and queries with the relevant officers at CUFC. Don't forget I am able to be contacted by e-mail: dave.matthew-jones@cambridge-united.co.uk or by leaving a message for me at the club: 01223 566500 or by talking to me as you see me around the ground You can also raise any maintenance issues for example a broken seat, faulty lights etc via the following link - Report a broken seat
Last week was the first time the lighting frame we had made was put into use.
It has been built to assist the growth and strengthening of the grass in the South Stand goalmouth. The idea came about following a conversation Ian had had with a groundsman at another club. Jack built the frame and painted it. Glen wired it up and got the electrics done. Wheels were fitted Now we are looking to build another one shortly to use on other parts of the ground. If successful and the first results are encouraging we will also be able to use it to prevent frost in the goalmouth where it is shaded by the South Stand See here for the original story -----Project Aberdeen - Building a Lighting Frame |
