Cambridge United Women celebrated their launch on Thursday night with a battling performance at home to QPR but it was not quite enough to avoid a 2-0 defeat.
First half goals from Kasha Petit and Jo Wilson secured the win for the Londoners, who created most of the meaningful chances once they had recovered from a stuttering start, in an entertaining pre-season friendly.
A decent crowd witnessed the match at the Abbey, with QPR's greater quality in the final third the only significant difference between the two teams.
Cambridge made the better start of the two teams and in the early stages QPR were penned in their own half.

A healthy crowd of 261 turned out at the Abbey to see United lose 2-0 to QPR and a spirited performance, and an enthusiastic response from the supporters made for a positive night for everyone associated with the team.
