When I renewed my Habbin season ticket at the end of July I had no idea that I would find out the next week I was expecting my first baby.
This prompted lots of questions in my mind, “How long will I be able to go for?” “Will I be able to stand?” Well the answers are I’m still standing in the Habbin at 37 weeks pregnant! I have been lucky enough to have a pretty healthy pregnancy and have just carried on as normal. The bonus of being in the Habbin is that you never have to queue for the ladies toilets so I can nip off at any time when baby decides to push on my bladder! I do not however recommend needing to be sick there – not that pleasant! A lot of the men around me are definitely starting to get a bit nervous that my waters may break during the game and I have had a few questions of, ‘Are you sure you should still be coming?!’ But nothing gets in the way of me and the club I love. Having said that, if any game could have brought on labour it was the Newport one. Completely forgetting you are pregnant as you leap around celebrating when the second and most definitely the third goal went in was probably not the smartest idea, but what a game that was! I actually sat for the Colchester game but found it way more uncomfortable than standing so I’m looking forward to taking my usual spot on the terraces for the Hartlepool game. The Hartlepool game may be my last one before baby makes its appearance so I will enjoy being around the characters I stand with. The baby, in my opinion, is already the next generation in U’s fans; although its Daddy being a lifelong Arsenal fan has a slightly different view point. However, it will be growing up in Cambridge and has been going to games all season so I think that’s good enough reason to be United! Babygrow and Baby on Board sticker have been purchased from the club shop and I really hope to be able to take the baby to the last home game of the season. What a photo opportunity that will be. Baby’s first game at around 3 weeks old. My love affair with Cambridge United has been going on for nearly 30 years now and I am so excited that I will be able to bring my baby into the fold just as my Dad did with my brother and I. There is nothing better than following your club, the horrendous lows we have suffered can all be forgotten with a successful season. I look forward to being back on the terraces next season minus the bump and with a coat on that actually does up easily rather than having to breathe in to do it up! Anouska Wright I’m delighted to say that Anouska was on the Habbin for the Stevenage game. We will print a baby picture in the April Edition! Read more from the Amber News click here
