Most Premiership and Championship sides like Sheffield Wednesday (below photo) will have lights that help the grass to grow at an even rate and encourage the younger growth to grow evenly.
The club cannot afford to purchase one, so having spoken to other clubs in a similar position who have made their own. We have come up with idea of making our own. Ian drew up the plans of what he wanted and today we set about making the framework. We have named it Project Aberdeen. To find out why see below. We have been really lucky to secure the help of Giacomo, Giac for short (pronounced Jack) who is helping us now regularly. He was a maintenance man at Homerton College for many years and also worked in the building industry before retiring. During the past few weeks he has been able to deliver some of the projects we couldn't previously do. So why did we call it Project Aberdeen - well it's because Jack's son comes down from Aberdeen whenever he can to watch the mighty U's. So in recognition of that we are going to call the frame Aberdeen. By the end of the week the frame will be completed and painted. We will then need to have the electrics fitted and tested. The lights being used on the frame are secondhand and have been donated to us.
