On Saturday they were clearing the snow from around the ground. Today Mick and Ian were clearing a different substance and not a pleasant one.
They had to unblock the sewage pipes. It is a job that may require doing several times a year.
The reason this time was not the weather, the blockages were caused by paper towels being used and then flushed down the toilet which causes the pipe to block. Sometimes it is simply unblocking the toilet but this time it took further action to clear.
To identify where the blockage is, then use rods to unblock takes several hours. Today it took three people nearly 3 hours to do. This time could have been used dealing with other jobs around the ground. Now the stands still need clearing of rubbish and the planned pitch work put back to later this afternoon
Fortunately I had to do some driving this morning as I have low gag reflect action and Mick Radford was able to assist with the job.
If they had not been able to do the work it would have meant calling out a specialist company at a substantial cost to the club.
