When Barry Corr played at the Abbey Stadium last season for Southend many thought he was the best player we had faced. He led the line well and scored the winning goal for the shrimpers in a one nil victory at the Abbey.

Therefore there was great excitement and expectancy when he signed during the pre-season in a move that shocked many people. 

It was a move that laid down one of the markers showing the great progress Cambridge United had made on pitch during recent seasons and the type of player now being attracted to the club.

There have been many strikers over the years who signed for the club and then having arrived failed to live up to their reputation. However, this does not seem to be the case with Barry. He has started the season on fire. 

He is not just a goalscorer. He is a  forward who is able to lead the line as a lone stricker or play alongside someone. He is not easily pushed off the ball and for me is the type of player I like. Determined, knowledgeable and a leader on the pitch.

Will he be the goal scorer that ensures the club is challenging for promotion at the end of the season?

Will he receive International recognition if the goals keep coming throughout the season?
